What to watch, play and stream this week: 12–18 October 2026

Welcome to the very first Binge Bulletin round-up. Wherever you’re reading from, this is one of those weeks where the release calendar is the best excuse going to clear the weekend for a backlog. This week is stacked: a brand-new 2D Castlevania, a pixel-blasting Warhammer sequel, a farming game with a mystery at its heart and Marvel’s next Disney+ series. Here’s what’s out, day by day. Game dates are worldwide unless we name a region; streaming availability varies by country, so check your local service.

The headliner: Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse

Konami’s run of handing beloved series to Western studios continues, and this one launches on 15 October in Japan as well as the West. Belmont’s Curse is a 2D action-exploration game from Evil Empire – the team behind the Return to Castlevania expansion for Dead Cells – and it sends Trevor and Rose Belmont across Paris. Note the platform list: it’s on Switch 1 but there’s no dedicated Switch 2 version listed. If you grew up mapping every corridor on graph paper, this is your Thursday sorted.

For the “turn it up to eleven” crowd: Boltgun 2

The first Boltgun was a gloriously loud love letter to 90s shooters, and the sequel doubles down with two playable characters – a returning Space Marine and a Sister of Battle – plus new weapons. PC, PS5 and Xbox get it on Wednesday; a Switch 2 version is confirmed for later, but without a date yet.

Soulslike with a Napoleonic twist: Valor Mortis

From the studio behind Ghostrunner, Valor Mortis is a first-person Soulslike where you play a resurrected soldier from Napoleon’s army. It’s on Game Pass from day one, so Xbox and PC Game Pass subscribers can try it without paying extra.

Rhythm and remasters

Ratatan is a rhythm-action spiritual successor to Patapon from some of the original team, hitting 1.0 after a delay – and note there’s no Switch 1 version. Tales of Eternia Remastered brings the classic Tales JRPG back on Friday (a day earlier on consoles in Japan) with quality-of-life extras including destination markers, an auto-battle mode and the option to switch off random encounters. That last one is a gift for anyone with a job.

Cosy and party picks

The Witch’s Bakery (Wednesday) and Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea (Thursday) are this week’s cosy double bill – more on both in our autumn cosy games list. And The Jackbox Party Pack 12 arrives on Thursday, just in time to sort out every gathering between now and New Year.

Also out: Planet Zoo 2 for builders and planners, and Toy Story: Retro Roundup! from Atari, which bundles a pile of older Toy Story games (plus A Bug’s Life) for a nostalgia hit.

TV and streaming

Streaming catalogues differ from country to country, so treat these as “where it’s showing in most places” and check your local service.

• Marvel’s VisionQuest (Disney+, Wednesday 14 October in most Disney+ regions) – Paul Bettany returns as Vision in the follow-up to WandaVision and Agatha All Along. Disney+ listings in the US, UK and Asia all show the same date.
• The Diplomat season 4 (Netflix, most regions, Thursday 15 October) – Keri Russell back in the most stressful job in TV.
• The Trap (Netflix, Tuesday 13 October; regional availability varies) – a German thriller about a reclusive author who uses her new book to bait her sister’s killer.
• Crystal Lake – the Friday the 13th prequel with Linda Cardellini as Pam Voorhees. US: all eight episodes on Peacock from Thursday 15 October. UK & Ireland: Sky and NOW (date TBC). Other regions TBC.
• Time series 3 – Jimmy McGovern’s prison drama with David Tennant and Siobhan Finneran. UK: BBC (started 11 October). US & Canada: BritBox from 22 October, weekly. Bleak, brilliant, not one for a cosy night.

Anime this week

Fall 2026 is now in full swing. On Crunchyroll (catalogues vary by region), DARK MACHINE THE ANIMATION starts on Tuesday 13 October alongside the second cour of Chitose Is in the Ramune Bottle, and PSYREN arrives on Friday 16 October. The Bulletin’s pick of the week

If you only do one thing: Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse on Thursday, then Tales of Eternia Remastered on Friday with random battles switched off for a no-stress JRPG weekend. And if friends are coming round, Jackbox 12 does the hosting for you.
